Convenient 2nd Amendment Campaign Claims
How The Political Class View The 1st Amendment Says All You Need To Know About How They View The 2nd Amendment or any other AmendmentSimon.
How can you tell if a candidate claiming to support the 2nd Amendment is another windbag saying what they think you want to hear?
Folks, the Republican Party is dysfunctional down to the unit level. All over Virginia, we see candidates running with all sorts of baggage because no one properly vets them, or worse, they vet and still run defective candidates.
The lack of vetting invites lackluster candidates and opportunists that can rattle off a litany of conservative talking points like some TV preacher imploring you to touch the screen, be healed, and send in your money. Too often, we do just that and end up with a disordered party and corrupt or defective candidates and out of the investment. Why? Because we don't vet.
The Louisa GOP Unit held a Mass Meeting this past week, and Chair Robin Horne, Duane Adams, Bob Good, and Lawyer Graven Craig played a role in what went down, even if by lending their imprimatur. What they did tells you much about who they are and what they will continue to do.
The meeting had the usual signposts of a unit run by corruptacrats- long delays to get their opposition to give up and leave, a ridiculous credentials process, and then making the opposition stand against the wall to vote for a challenger!!
This primary vote during the Mass Meeting was for the local Sheriff's spot! Should he have had them spread eagle and frisked them as well? Did Robin Horne fingerprint them? Sound absurd?
Absurdity is a great illustrator of absurdities and the absurdity of the process and result; marginalizing taxpayers by setting them up for public marginalization and ostracization literally "against the wall" is absurdly true.
There is an order to our political process. To participate in a fair political process, everyone must 1) have the same fundamental rights and 2) have the opportunity to exercise those rights. Louisa citizens showed up to use their 1st Amendment rights, but delaying them in the hot sun for an hour or more to get them to leave, deprived them of access. The Unit Committee, having stripped away the exercise of speech through denial of access, further distorted the process by denying their fellow citizens a private vote.
Intimidation tactics like these aim to engineer a desired outcome. This behavior by the Louisa GOP is outrageous. Robin Horne, Supervisor Adams, Lawyah Craig, and cheerleader/ part-time Congressman' Bill-less' Bob Good are the first to nod heads during any discussion of the problem of election rigging but had no problem running a crooked Mass Meeting. Craig's got the evening all to himself as none mentioned above invited Buddy Fowler or Phillip Strother to the event.
Rigging by denying competition access may sound like a minor deal, but anyone who is short-changing speech in the political process to get elected is short-changing you. If Craig and Co. will pull a cheap stunt locally to get elected, think of how he'd short-change you in Richmond.
What does this have to do with the 2nd Amendment?
Our Constitution has a logical order. The 1st Amendment recognizes the God Given right to free speech, and the 2nd Amendment provides the means to ensure access and its proper exercise. Your right to participate in the political process unhampered and without being harassed, delayed, marginalized, and ostracized is the real purpose of the 2nd Amendment- protect and enforce the 1st. If you think what I am saying is a stretch, consider the implications of switching the order and making gun ownership prescind the 1st. What you would have is something like Cuba- firepower would subsume all rights. In other words, 'these guns vote you won't say that, believe that, own that.' It is no accident our Founders ordered the Constitution with the exercise of free speech as that which all else follow or rely on.
Anyone who engages in shenanigans such as was done in Louisa; railroading fellow Republicans, cheating your neighbors out of their right to a secure vote without being marginalized; purposely omitting candidates to push their pal, is misusing the Party Unit as their candidate's campaign apparatus rather than as a forum and opportunity for their fellow Republicans to make an informed decision. Denying debate and omitting views is lying by omission, and it is no different than the MSM's selective reporting to shape people's thoughts and opinions. It is a perversion of truth, as anything less than the whole truth is a lie.
Railroading voters is an assault on their First Amendment. Anyone claiming to advocate the 2nd Amendment while undermining the 1st - your right to a fair political process, is a damn liar.
Five & Dime got a hold of the draft Louisa credentials committee roll-play training questions:
Citizen: I've been waiting in line for an hour and would like a ballot, please.
Credentials Committee: When did you stop having sex with a parrot?
Citizen: What? I never...
Credentials Committee: A-hah, So you never stopped having sex with a parrot!
Citizen: No, that's not what I meant!
Credentials Committee: So you stopped, but ultimately you had sex with a parrot! Obviously, you are here to vote for the wrong candidate.
Go stand up against that wall, state your candidate’s name in front of everyone so we can add your name on our enemies list.
Ok, so the parrot sex is for members of that Pineapple Upside Down Club I keep hearing about in Louisa.
