Follow-Up and Finals on the 10th District Senate Primary
McGuire Will BE District 10's New Senator.
At 3:30 pm on May 6, 2023, Republican Delegate John McGuire won the nomination for Virginia State Senate District 10 in a four-way race with 63 % of the vote on the first ballot.
An overwhelming mandate and record-breaking win for McGuire who by his hard and persevering campaign work earned the trust and admiration of “We The People.”
The runners-up achieved the following:
Duane Adams of Louisa 24%,
Jack Dyer of Hanover 11%,
and Sandy Brindley 2%.
McGuire won eight out of the District’s ten counties, losing Louisa by a single vote and Fluvanna by three.
McGuire graciously acknowledged the work of his competitors:
”My opponents ran a spirited race and I know I learned a lot about the district. "We the People" have spoken.”
Indeed they did speak loudly. The announcement of McGuire’s victory nearly brought down the building!
