New w/ @jordainc : Rep. Bob Good aimed to restructure the House Freedom Caucus, but his efforts could come to a halt if he formally loses his VA primary.
In addition to ousting members over attendance issues, there were recent discussions under his leadership to change the bylaws to prevent committee chairs from having a vote in HFC. That would target only two members: Judiciary Chair Jim Jordan and Homeland Chair Mark Green.
“The change they were proposing would obviously impact Mr. Green and myself,” Jordan told me
Now, there are early discussions of who could replace Rep. Good if he doesn't make up a 300+ vote deficit as well as if he will stay on through the end of the year.
If Good doesn't succeed, some argue it will be untenable for the leader to set their priorities on matters like spending for 2025 if he won't be there to be part of the fight himself next year. But again, there isn't anything in the rules that says he can't stay on, in such a case.
Plus, other discussions of changing bylaws to prevent another instance of a Freedom Caucus member endorsing against their leader as we first scooped with Rep. Warren Davidson backing Good's challenger, John McGuire.
Tomorrow the vote will be certified and Good has ten days to file for a recount. With the “Stop the Steal” effort in Lynchburg producing only 7 ballots it would be a waste of time for rational people. But this is Bob Good so we will see.
More to come on the HFC shortly.

You aren't alone if you are watching for signposts of the end of this primary drama. I am, as well. We’d all like a definitive answer, no matter who your guy was. I think we have it, once we push aside pride. The Primary should be certified today, and it will be for John McGuire. That reality is not about to st…
