The Ugly Side Of Local Politics Descending Into Personal Ambition. Part 1
Opposing sides vie for control of the school board, but one is using the tactics of the Left- disinformation and fear: the Republican Party under Jack Dyer. Opinion.
This post overlaps two issues- 1.) the continuation of pointing out misuse of local Republican Units by a chair and other figures, and 2.) the politicization of self-governance by both sides to obscure their control agendas- all of which I will cover in upcoming posts.
To begin, I’ll distance myself from both sides as my motives in this differ from the lies and distortions of the NO campaign, and my views on elected School Boards predate the Yes campaign. Hence, while I agree parent involvement rightfully includes running for the School Board, I want you to know neither camp formed my opinion. I’ll attempt to offer views and information independent of the distortions or claims of either side. This effort towards the end that you might make a reasoned decision come ballot time without being railroaded or cajoled into a rash decision.
I have heard ALL the positives, negatives, and excuses from both sides and find them wanting, especially the NO campaign, which I find deliberately misleading.
No middle ground now exists between Democrats and Republicans to support the claims of moderation or bipartisanship by the Yes’ers. So, we need to flesh out some terms and why we differ in general:
The Yes side proponents claim moderation and bipartisanship. Some assume I am on their side because I support elected School Boards:- I must be moderate or bipartisan! No chance. I am no moderate and believe bipartisanship died years ago. ‘Moderates’ believe this position is somehow virtuous; I believe it is mere sloth. History has never been kind to fence-sitting, and no one remembers moderates with favor. Even God despises the notion.
Most conservatives see ‘moderate’ as merely an attempt to frame opposites as harmonious to avoid confrontation or debate. It’s a cowardly excuse and naive at best. Further, as ‘moderates’ claim for themselves, I do not vote for candidates from both parties for the best person as bona fides. I see that idea as a mark of the LIV*.
The Republican party has RiNos, corrupt pikers, swamp rats, and other skaliwags. But the rank and file are on board with the values enshrined in the Republic - it is to them I am appealing. The Democrats are Marxist and Satanic. I’ll stick with the patriotic rank and file; the others are all anathema. Choosing between the Parties these days is like sorting dirty socks in a gym laundry basket- few do not reek.
Relativism, moral equivalency, and ignorance explain ‘moderate’ in my book. Yes, it is harsh, but not undeserved. A false veneer of virtue to cover for the murder of children in the womb and mutilation through the lie of transgenderism, among other horrors. I cannot ally with such in a struggle to protect children of any age.
On the other hand, I cannot stomach those refusing to recognize that the culture war is the front line of all other political and societal battles. Society is on the verge of being “fundamentally transformed," and altering children's thought patterns is the front line- they don’t care about you; you will die soon enough. If this happens, everything else falls. It is this type of lukewarm fence-sitting that marks many in the NO camp.
Both parties fought over philosophical approaches to solving problems in the distant past. Today, the Parties are at war over the very nature of our humanity as well as the nature of this Constitutional Republic.
Further, the Yes side is mobbed up with those who invoke the deliberate misnomer ‘democracy’ to redefine our Republic- this is not moderation and is undoubtedly not bipartisan.
Conservatives emphatically reject the re-imaging of our Republic as a democracy! No mention of democracy is made in the Founding Documents by design- not one. Our Founders despised democracies as always leading into totalitarianism- “you can vote your way in but always have to fight your way out.” The word Democracy is not mentioned in any of the 50 State Constitutions. It is merely a code word for socialism.
There is no synthesis possible with socialism in this Republic, even down to the office of Dogcatcher. Every seat counts in this cold war of definitions that is in play. We need to step up and serve and hold those elected accountable. As is the case now, we cannot do that when an appointee hides behind a Supervisor.
In upcoming posts, I will show that the ‘No’ side has no clear, reasoned, objective argument. Every objection they present is a projection or simply a bald-faced lie. For example, the lie about School Boards gaining taxing authority through elections- an impossibility under the State Constitution, or the only way to keep School Boards free of politics is to seat them through political appointments! This stuff is ridiculously puerile.
In closing, I am my own man and on neither side. I hope you, like me, will reject the fear-mongering and lies presented by the No side, look for motivations and nefarious alliances on those of the Yes side, be swayed by neither, and consider the actual benefits of Elections. I will make the case for these benefits and scrutinize the distortions and agendas.
I will show it in upcoming posts.
a. The seating method does not affect a man or woman’s morals or susceptibility to corruption: Guns don’t kill, Pencils don’t misspell, Spoons don’t make me fat. Elections don’t make one corrupt, and appointments don’t make one holy. Those claiming otherwise do so as a diversion or out of plain stupidity. This problem assumed here is dismissed in most basic Sunday School classes. Too bad the leaders of No have little grounding there.
b. Elections offer specific term limits and provide direct accountability to constituents. We have neither under the crony patronage system. (Most of the No side clamor for term limits for Congress. Imagine that).
c. Elected School Boards offer taxpayers the opportunity to run for the Board of Supervisors so you can challenge the Supervisors who appoint and protect the appointees who currently vote against your values 3-3 with a swing vote Left in this super-majority Republican County. (This is the real reason the BOS vehemently objects- I got it straight from Bucky Stanley).
d. Abdicating any vote in today’s slide into socialism is a capitulation on self-governance at a critical time. The cronies and socialists who seek office for every possible advantage and enrichment do so whatever the seating method.
In the next post, I will examine the claims of the No’ers and how Jack Dyer divides the GOP Unit by making this issue the central issue of this election cycle instead of letting the rank-and-file sort it out. The purpose of the Party Unit is to elect Republican Candidates, not attempt to deny parents direct involvement on School Boards. Given that Terry McAuliffe lost his bid for governor on much the same sentiment, it seems that Dyer is once again proving he has all the political instincts of a cinder block. The Chair in any organization facilitates the Committee’s pursuit of its duties. As chairs in other counties, Dyer seems to believe it is his play toy. I’ll explain why I think he is the absolute worst Chair we have to date, and we have had some doozies. I believe this is where personal ambition becomes conflated with the responsibilities of the Republican Unit. I cannot speak to this for the Yes side as they, by design or to avoid such bloated heads in the Parties, have no apparent connection to the other Party… as of now.
Stay tuned.
