Bob Good's Performance in Congress is Mostly Cheerleader For Liberty Caucus Issues
Bill-less Bob in an anti-Trumper more interested in preserving his job than doing it.
Folks all over the 5th District ask why Bob is so consumed with empire-building at the local unit level. The issue comes up regularly from various strains of Republicans around the district. I received this opinion from the Farmville Herald from a reader. While I may disagree with the writer’s ideas of the necessity of compromise with elements in the party, such as McCarthy and his supporters, I can’t argue with the observations that Bill-less Bob has yet to turn back any Leftist legislation. It is simply not ‘good’ enough to be a cheerleader for Team Gaetz. The District needs an effective legislator who produces bills aimed at draining the swamp and its death grip on every aspect of our lives. That is what I voted for but have yet to see materialize.

The author goes on to address petty fights, and Good is certainly all about petty. You will recall his never-ending obsession with John McGuire, which I have written about often.
While Good is panhandling and trying to primp his image, McGuire sent his own letter to the editor. It is below in its entirety. We are blessed to have someone like McGuire who will produce bills and work to get them passed in the State Legislature. Hopefully, we will have a primary and find the right man for the jb in Congress.
Republicans should avoid turning on each other in local races.
To the Editor,
Like my friend Governor Youngkin, my number one priority has been on helping fellow Republicans keep the House and flip the Senate because right now that is all that matters. So much is at stake: protecting the unborn, defending our second Amendment rights, and securing our elections. God willing, I will win in November and become the first State Senator in history to actually live in Goochland County. I recently stopped by the Goochland GOP tent and the Goochland Tea Party tent for early voting. Here is a lesson/example why it is often recommended legislators like me stay out of local elections:
Two Independents for Commonwealth’s Attorney: In case you didn’t know, there are two candidates running for Goochland Commonwealth’s Attorney: Republican incumbent Mike Caudill, now running as an Independent, and John Lumpkins, who is also running as an Independent. It is every person’s right in this scenario to endorse either one of these Independents because neither one is a Republican nominee. I respect whatever choice you make, and have friends on both sides. I’ve told both candidates I am staying out of this thing and not endorsing, but it is getting ridiculous.
I know bullying tactics firsthand. While I have the highest award for conservatism in Virginia, for months a small group of never-Trump Republican activists (including our DeSantis endorsing Congressman,) thought it was a good idea to tell everyone I was a liberal Democrat — ridiculous. People are smart and it didn’t work, because we had a record win with 63% of the vote in a four-way race on the first ballot. We won Goochland by a huge margin! Unfortunately, these folks will say or do anything to get your vote because they think they are smarter than you. These same people, sadly including a few in local GOP leadership, continue to take pot shots at me and are now helping John Lumpkin’s campaign by using the same disingenuous rhetoric they used when they ran my opponent’s campaign at the convention.
These same people are now calling the current Republican incumbent Commonwealth’s Attorney Mike Caudill a Democrat. They are also saying he will defund the police, which is simply ridiculous. We gain nothing as a party from lying to our voters. As a Goochland resident myself, we have some amazing law enforcement officers and I think we all agree we feel pretty safe.
Sometimes Republicans focus their fire on each other, when it should be focused on the Democrats. In Navy SEAL language, that makes us less effective as a fighting force.
I’ve heard it said that how you campaign is how you will govern. I call upon both sides to recall your values, to run as candidates for public office with the intent to serve the great people of Goochland County. As Republicans, let’s stop the nonsense and “lock arms” so we can keep the House and flip the Senate!
Del. John McGuire, Goochland
